Living in Winnetka: Greeley, Hubbard Woods and Crow Island Schools

Ask someone in Winnetka where they live, and they'll often answer with a school name: Greeley, Hubbard Woods or Crow Island. Winnetka's three elementary schools work like neighborhoods, and each has its own feel. I'm Sarah Jividen, a North Shore Realtor, and this page walks through how the Winnetka schools fit together.

Worth knowing

  • Crow Island School, opened in 1940 and designed with Eliel and Eero Saarinen, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Its design became a model for schools built after World War II.

  • Some homes with a Winnetka mailing address are in unincorporated Cook County and are not in District 36. Always check the district before you fall for a house.

  • Winnetka has two walkable business districts, each next to a Metra station: Elm Street and Hubbard Woods.
